I use Excel on almost a daily basis. Very often after making a table we might need to make some changes in it. As our work on a table progresses, we might want to split cells to obtain new, multiple cells. There are at least a few ways you can do it. Choose whatever suits you the most:
First, select a cell that you wish to divide. Right click it and select Split Cells from the menu.
From the upper menu click Table and then Split Cells from the menu.
Find Tables and Borders and then Split Cells. In all of the above mentioned cases, selecting Split Cells brings a few options to choose from like number of columns and rows that you wish to create in a single cells. After everything is done, click OK to finish the process. It is quite easy to get the hang out of it, but remember to keep practicing.
