Most people don’t want to be involved in a confrontation of any kind; however, one in three women worldwide is assaulted. If something does happen, there are many ways a woman can defend herself from an attacker. Self-defense moves or weapons such as firearms, knives, and pepper spray are all things that can be used to stay safe during dangerous situations.
Martial Arts
Learning one of the martial arts is a popular choice. There are many different kinds, such as Krav Maga, aikido, judo, karate, and taekwondo. Each of them focuses on different methods, with aikido being particularly suitable for women due to the fact that it requires less physical strength than some of the other methods.
Firearms
As long as the proper training and licensing requirements are met, a firearm is another good option. With so many shapes and sizes available, it is easier than ever to find a gun that has all the desired attributes. Concealed carry options for women are also much better than they were decades ago since they are now more comfortable and conceal weapons more discreetly.
Knives
Knives come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They can be carried in a purse or pocket and disguised as a comb, pen or even lipstick. There are heavy-duty knives that can be carried in sheaths around the ankle, belt or most other places on the body that allow for easy access.
Pepper Spray
While laws for its use vary depending on the locale, pepper spray is usually easy to get, store and use. Like knives, pepper spray can look like a harmless object. Getting a small canister that can attach to a keychain is very common and makes it convenient to access.
With so many self-defense options available, women are able to move about their everyday lives with more confidence in their abilities and the knowledge that they are able to do everything possible to protect themselves and their loved ones from attackers.
